S&R Sundeep Group · Since 1999
DubaiGST

Leading distribution and manufacturing in West and Central Africa, built by two brothers.
S&R’s journey began in 1999, when Sunder Gurbani started trading FMCG products in Africa. In 2002, Raju Gurbani joined him in the Congo, and together they expanded the business from its trading roots into a diversified group with interests across trading, retail, manufacturing, automotive and industrial services in multiple African markets. In 2013, S&R relocated its headquarters from Africa to Dubai, UAE, establishing a central base to support its growing international operations.
From 1999 to today
How the network was built.
S&R did not arrive at its present shape through acquisition. Every business it runs was built on top of something it already had: a distribution route, a customer base, a warehouse, or people already working in a city. Read in order, the stages below are less a timeline than a record of one thing compounding into the next.
1999
One trader, one region
Sunder Gurbani began the business in Africa in 1999, trading FMCG. The model was simple and it was the only model S&R had: buy well, move goods reliably, and be the supplier a market can count on when others cannot deliver.
2002
A second brother, a second front
Raju Gurbani joined his brother in the Congo around 2002. Two founders in two places meant the business could hold a position in one market while opening another, and that partnership has remained the constant through every stage since.
Growth
From one country to a network
As S&R expanded across Central and West Africa, it made a defining strategic move: building its own logistics network. By bringing transport and warehousing in-house, S&R gained greater control, and that capability became a cornerstone of its expansion, enabling the scale and diversification that followed.
Diversification
Owning more of the chain
With distribution and customers in place, S&R expanded into supermarkets and wholesale, followed by salt refining, food manufacturing and beverage bottling. In Pointe-Noire, S&R leveraged its established presence, people and infrastructure to move into industrial services.
Today
Multiple African markets, one operating system
Today, S&R operates across multiple African markets, headquartered in Dubai and supported by its own warehousing, transport and land infrastructure. New markets and new businesses are still being added on the same principle: build where there is already presence.
The brothers' long-standing partnership has remained central to S&R Sundeep Group's development.
S&R continues to pursue new markets, industries and business opportunities while building on its established African footprint.
Leadership
The founders.
Sunder Gurbani
Founder · Owner · Director
Sunder Gurbani founded the business in Africa in 1999, trading FMCG products. From the outset, he built the capability that would become the foundation of S&R: a trading and distribution network designed to operate reliably in markets where moving goods is often the greatest challenge.
Raju Gurbani
Founder · Owner · Director
Raju Gurbani joined his brother in 2002 and established operations in the Congo, beginning a partnership that would drive S&R’s next phase of growth. Together, the brothers expanded S&R beyond its trading roots, entering new markets, building new capabilities and diversifying into retail, manufacturing, beverages, automotive and industrial services.
S&R remains owned and led by its founders. What began with two brothers has grown into a diversified group employing over 2,100 people across multiple African markets and its Dubai headquarters, built market by market, business by business, under the same entrepreneurial leadership that started it.
